Troxell Law’s three attorneys bring nearly 50 years of combined legal experience and have conducted more than 200 jury trials in 26 counties across Colorado. In addition to jury trials, we have litigated thousands of contested hearings in courts throughout the state.
All three of our attorneys are former Colorado State Public Defenders, with two having served as Regional Office Heads. Scott Troxell (Glenwood Springs), Brian Johnson (Sterling). Our attorneys have extensive courtroom and trial experience throughout Colorado.

ATTORNEY HEIDI TROXELL
Founded in 2018, Troxell Law, our team of trusted Colorado attorneys with deep expertise in their individual practice areas.
Heidi Troxell is a trial attorney with a master’s degree in social work. She spent more than seven years with the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office, serving in its Pueblo, Arapahoe, Grand Junction, and Steamboat Springs offices. She has negotiated thousands of cases, conducted many jury trials, and defended clients against everything from DUI cases to homicides and sex offenses. She later transitioned to a highly respected family law firm in Grand Junction, Colorado, before moving to Glenwood Springs in 2018, where she started Troxell Law.
Scott Troxell has represented thousands of individuals since beginning his career with the Colorado State Public Defender in 2007. His cases span all areas of criminal law from municipal violations, DUI’s, misdemeanor domestic violence cases, through multi-week first degree murder trials. He joined the firm in 2022, following 15 years with the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office in its Colorado Springs, Steamboat Springs, Grand Junction, and Glenwood Springs Regional offices. Scott was both a Supervising Attorney and Managing Attorney/Office Head for the Colorado State Public Defender, serving as a supervising attorney in the Grand Junction Office before becoming Office Head of the Glenwood Springs Regional Office from 2018–2022.
Brian Johnson joined Troxell Law in 2025, following 12 years with the Colorado State Public Defender’s Office. Brian handles all levels of criminal cases and has extensive experience with both pre-trial litigation and jury trials. He began his career in the Denver Office before moving on to Grand Junction and ultimately Sterling, CO where he served as Office Head from 2018-2025.
